This year my daughter was asked to her High School Homecoming. This was her very first date so the pressure was on. She wanted a dress inspired by the red dress worn by Heidi Klum at the Oscars. We chose a dark red polyester taffeta, with a netted underskirt. She wanted some modesty, hence the sleeves. There were a few crazy moments on Saturday afternoon. I kept asking her “when is your date coming?” It all worked out and I think she looked beautiful. A very fun project.

Lovely dress and even lovelier daughter! Will you be posting the details here or an PatternReview? Nice work!
Hi Lindsay,
I am a little new to the blogging world, but I might try to post the details soon. Thanks for the comment. I guess I just wanted to find other sewers and share projects and ideas. I am completely amazed at the community online. It is kind of fun and very encouraging. As a teenager I tried to sew so that no one could tell it was homemade. I would study fine clothing details in the stores and try to copy them. I didn’t realize it would hone my skills in a way that is such a joy to me now. I guess you could say I am coming out of the closet with my sewing!!! HAHA. Thanks so much. Have a great day. Diane
Wow, just found you and I guess you just started blogging. Welcome! This is a great great interpretation of the dress to suit your daughter’s age.
I just love the dress, and the Dorothy Shoes! Beautiful outfit and beautiful daughter.
